Session Plans Young people will be able to use the studio as a way to create music. The main focus of music that they will create will be in vocals, such as either being recorded singing or rapping, or the other focus will be in us teaching them how to produce music, so creating the beats for music. The secondary focus we will be in us teaching young people how to DJ. The main ethos for these sessions is that the young people will have not only a safe place, but a place where they can leave current stresses they may have, outside the studio doors, and get into the mindset of being creators through the medium of music. They say music is therapy for the soul, than our studio sessions will definitely be that soul therapy Finer Details Though music is the medium we use that allows us to reach and engage with young people, the focus of the project is to help guide and steer young people away from negative forces and activities, especially at a time when there seems to be a prevalence of knife crime. David’s previous experience of working with young offenders as a frontline mentor is what laid the foundations for the studio project. With that said we find it best to work with no more then four young people a session. As anything over this amount becomes difficult to keep them engaged with in terms of work wise. Our aim is to work with these young people for at least 6 months, and is aimed at young people in or at the cusp of youth offending. So referrals from organisations like social services, youth offending services, probation, Care homes early prevention services or even schools are welcome. The project will be run by David Anglin – who has worked closely with young offenders and young people from difficult backgrounds for close to 10 years and also holds a degree in Psychology. Joseph Dyer – A music producer with more than 15 years of experience in the music industry and who has produced songs for house hold names like Chris Brown, Wiley, Iggy Azalea, Cassie, Katy B to name just a few Location and Times The sessions will be every Thursday Currently we run from 1pm until 7 pm at Loxford Youth Center. Though we do change depending on situations and risks to Wanstead Youth Center. When a referral is sent over to us and approved, we then run a booking in requirement with the young people. This is to ensure certain groups don’t mix.
